Prez To Reinstate Suspended Deputy Sports Minister
The suspended Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Pius Enam Hadzie would be reinstated today.
This was announced by President Akufo-Addo on Saturday, during the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Annual Delegates Conference, in the Eastern region.
According to the President, a police report on the Australia visa scandal he received, exonerates the Deputy Minister from any complicity in the visa fraud.
“Yesterday, on my return in the evening from the State Visit to South Africa, I received the Police report on the Australia visa scandal, which has exonerated the suspended Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports from any complicity in the visa fraud. I will lift his suspension on Monday, and return him to office,” he said.
It would be recalled that the Deputy Youth Minister was suspended after preliminary investigations into how some 60 persons were arrested for attempting to enter Australia under false pretenses in the recently held 21st Commonwealth games.
He was suspended together with the Acting Director General of the National Sports Authority Robert Sarfo Mensah.
However, a report from the police exonerates him from any wrongdoing in the fraud scandal.
The President is keen on fulfilling his 2016 campaign promise of dealing with corrupt officials in his administration.
He has suspended a number of his appointees following some allegations of corruption levelled against them.
At the party’s national annual conference, he assured Ghanaians of maintaining the approach during his entire tenure in office.
