The absence of teachers in Al-Manara Islamic Primary School in Damongo in the West Gonja District of the Savannah Region due to the strike action has resulted in a free-for-all figght among pupils.
Joy News, in a visit to three basic schools in the area, has discovered that Al-manara Islamic, Jafo Experimental and Canteen Primary were closed while pupils were loitering about with others engaged in what can best be described as wrestling.
At the time of the team’s visit to Al-manara Islamic Primary School, there was neither a headteacher nor class teachers to intervene in the fighting pupils.
The wrestle continued until an educationalist, Alhaji Gbanfuwurah Abudu, arrived to ensure some order between the pupils.
The situation at the Canteen Primary school was no different as neither pupils nor teachers were present during the visit.
In Jafo Experimental Primary School, classrooms were opened for pupils but only two teachers under the NABCO programme were in attendance.
Despite the strike action, The Ghana School Feeding Program was in display, perhaps, influencing the presence of these pupils in school.
