PURC Begins Tariff Review for 2018
The process of examination and approval of electricity and water tariffs for 2018 has commenced, Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced.
According to the Commission, the move was in accordance with the PURC Act, 1997 (Act 538).
A statement signed and issued on Tuesday by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mrs. Mami Dufie Ofori, indicates that the tariff review commenced by way of soliciting inputs from all stakeholders of the Commission and the general public.
“The Commission has subsequently received proposals from the Utility Companies: Volta River Authority; Ghana Grid Company Limited ( GRIDCo); Electricity Company of Ghana; Northern Electricity Distribution Company; Ghana Water Company Limited; Enclave Power Company (EPC); Ghana Chamber of Telecommunication including the government,” the statement read.
The Commission, according to the statement, is currently analyzing the received proposals.
It further mentioned that the general public are to submit their inputs in respect to the major tariff review before January 31, this year.
This is to create an environment of transparency and fair hearing of all stakeholders of the utility service industry.
