Pure water truck kills mom & son

BOOBAI, A plush-looking community in the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti Region, was last Wednesday afternoon thrown into a state of mourning.

A commercial cargo truck, loaded with sachet water, accidentally trapped and killed a woman believe to be 29-years old and her son, who was just one-month away from attaining two years.

The dead woman, whose family has since identified as Maa Abena and her son were standing by the shoulder of the road in search of a vehicle to board home.

The woman saw the truck, which had developed a break fault, heading towards their way, so the then panicked-woman and her son, took to their heels.

Strangely, the vehicle also headed towards the exact place where the woman and her son were running to. The truck eventually caught up, trapped and killed the duo instantly.

The lifeless bodies of the mother and son have since been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, as police have started their investigations into the case.

The heartbreaking incident attracted a sizable number of people to the accident scene, including women, who openly she’s uncontrollable tears for the two departed souls.

One Appiah Agyei, who claimed to be the uncle of Maa Abena, said his nephew “was a nurse by profession and she was returning home with her sick son when disaster struck”.

Meanwhile, police have arrested the driver of the truck to assist in investigations. The truck has also been impounded.
