Alhaji Bashiru Nii Narh Alema, Out-going Klotey Korley National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman, has advised the party’s delegates to put the interest of the party above all consideration.
He told party supporters to be mindful of the fact that politics is not about division and enmity, and that, members with contrary views should not insult and fight each other.
Alhaji Alema, who was addressing delegates at a get-together in Accra to bid them farewell, said strengthening the organizational capacity of the party was critical to winning the 2020 general elections.
‘’I am confident that after the constituency elections this week, both winners and losers will join hands in unity to advance the principles and ideals of our party’’, he said.
He said the current state of the party in Klotey Korley leaves much to be desired, due to the lack of unity and coordination among the youth, which has created the impression that the party was not functioning effectively even after winning the seat in the 2016 elections.
Alhaji Alema, who is aspiring for the Greater Accra Regional Vice-Chairman of the NDC, called on delegates, who were discouraged, to stand firm and rise above parochial interest and vote for executives, capable of pursuing policies that would enhance the socio-economic issues of the youth in the constituency.
Mr Justice Amarlai Tetteh, Incumbent treasurer of the party, urged the delegates to appraise the track record of those seeking their mandate to enable them to choose dynamic and competent leaders to spearhead the constituency’s development efforts.
