Ghanaian music duo, R2Bees have signed a new deal with Universal Music Group. A member of the group, Pae Dae shared the good news through a post on Twitter.
Following the development, the group have postponed the release of their new album—which was to take place in August this year. They rather released ‘We Dey Vibe‘off the upcoming album ‘SITE 15‘ in July.
“They [Universal] have made us a very good offer which we think we should take,” explains Ike Otoo Arhin, Manager for the group. ”This is our 10 years anniversary and the album release should be huge. If we release it independently, it would not go as far as we want it. Ghana music has to go further.”
R2Bees had planned to release the album independently this week after a back and forth with Universal Music Group over a distribution deal. But, immediately after their performance at Tidal Rave on Saturday, July 28, Universal Music Group crew flew into Ghana to finalize the deal
The terms of the deal are yet to be disclosed to the public. They are now the third Ghanaian act to be signed by the world’s biggest music company after Cina Soul and Stonebwoy.
