Rains Destroy Apire Roads
THE ROADS at Apire, near Santase in Kumasi, have virtually become un-motorable as they wave been washed away by recent heavy rains in the area.
During THE NEW PUBLISHER’s recent visit to the place, residents of the area lamented that commercial vehicles had stopped plying the community due to the bad nature of the roads.
According to them, the situation had made life unbearable for them, especially in emergency situations when they had to rush people to the hospital.
The paper learnt that the roads were in bad condition but it got worsened after few rainfalls in the city, lately.
Kwaku Ofori, a resident, bemoaned that they were gradually being cut from Kumasi and other the nearby areas. He said in the absence of cars in the area, residents had no option than to walk several miles to the next town to board cars to Kumasi and other parts of the country.
Another resident, Maame Afia, on her part, said they have great difficulty in sending their merchandise to the market and have difficulty in conveying sick people in the area to hospital.
She therefore appealed passionately to the authorities concerned to fix the bad roads before the situation gets out of hand.
