An ultra-modern swimming pool has been constructed at the Rattray Park, the largest recreational center in Kumasi, to help attract more patronage for the facility.
This was disclosed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Osei Assibey Antwi, during the ‘Meet the Press’ programme of the assembly.
According to him, the Rattray Park, which had a huge potential to generate money for the assembly, was being managed poorly before he assumed office as mayor. He said consequently, the assembly had no option than to go into a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with a renowned private company to construct the recreational facility.
Hon. Assibey Antwi noted that even though it was in its early days yet, he believed the decision to go into the PPP was a good one.
According to him, the private firm had worked tirelessly, within the past few months, to give the massive facelift to the Park.
“The private company has constructed restaurant and a 500-seater dome facility, among other projects, just to upgrade the standard of the Rattray Park”, he said.
He was confident that Rattray Park would receive massive patronage, especially during festive seasons and on national holidays.
“The Rattray Park now stands at the pole position to attract more people because the facility now boasts of numerous facilities including a swimming pool”, he said.
