Former President Jerry John Rawlings will eventually join the unity walk of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita Desoso, National Vice Chairperson of the party has said.
According to her, the Unity Walk is an idea put together by the party, and therefore, Mr Rawlings will join in the near-future.
Since the NDC lost the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the party has been embarking on periodic unity walks in the regions as part of its re-organisation strategy.
The walk has always featured former president John Dramani Mahama.
Mr Rawlings, who is the founder of the party, has never been part of the walk.
Also, most of the flag bearer-aspirants of the NDC do not join the walk.
But Ms Desoso has expressed optimism that Mr Rawlings will eventually come around.
She told Chief Jerry Forson on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Tuesday, 5 June that: “Unity walk has brought some love and unity in the party. It is the party’s idea. This Saturday we are going to the Volta Region.
“From all indications, I strongly believe the founder will join us on the walk.”
