RCL, Tourism Ministry Launch Pilolo Homowo Trade Carnival
Reissbonny Company Limited (RCL), in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Ga Traditional Council, have launched the first ever Pilolo Ga Homowo Trade Carnival in Accra.
The company announced that the carnival would be held from the 17th to19th of August, 2018 and would have Ghanaians from all walks of life trouping to the venue to make purchases and to enjoy the Homowo festival as well.
Traders are required to purchase affordable chalets built by RCL at the Rawlings Park in Accra in order to make sales during the trade carnival.
The carnival will also see musical jams with artists like Screwface and Black Rasta in attendance alongside fun games for the children.
Speaking at the launch last Wednesday, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RCL, Mr. Reiss Arnold Bonney, said that the initiative was to help traders and Ghanaians in general benefit from this year’s Ga Homowo.
“Patronage of the Homowo festival has seen a huge decline and that was what prompted my outfit to partner the Ministry and the Ga Traditional Council to give the festival a facelift”, he stated.
Mr. Bonney, in an interview with THE PUBLISHER, advised that, Ghanaians formed a formidable force in order to fight the canker of economic instability by taking advantage of avenues like festivals which promote our Ghanaian culture and bring in a lot of tourists.
“Ghanaians must make use of what they have, that’s why we are organising the carnival during the Homowo to enable the people benefit from their own festival”, Mr Bonney said.
Also present at the event, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of RCL Counsellor Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt urged Ghanaians to get rid of the notion that festivals are fetish.
