Former President John Mahama has said the lies of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are being exposed by the reality of people’s lives.
A few days ago, President Akufo-Addo conceded in an interaction with Ghanaians in the US that times are really hard, assuring the economy will improve soon in the wake of fuel price increment among others.
“We have to approach the foreign exchange matter medium to long-term by expanding our supply base, that’s not a crisis…they’re difficulties the system would be able to accommodate…” the President said.
“It’s a difficult situation, but a difficult situation also requires some amount of fortitude and firm action and that’s what we are trying to do at home,” he said.
As he tours parts of the country to campaign in his bid to return to power, Mr. Mahama said the NPP has been exposed for deceiving Ghanaians.
Addressing NDC delegates in the Shai Osu-Doku constituency at Dodowa in the Greater Accra region on Thursday, Mr Mahama said the existence of some of his government’s major achievements notwithstanding, the NPP through a “sustained campaign of lies” convinced Ghanaians that those projects did not exist.
He said because the NPP lied about those projects, they are finding it difficult, and sometimes embarrassing, to commission some of them.
Mr Mahama has therefore urged members of the NDC to be proud of their achievements in office, expressing the hope that the party will return to power in 2020 to work hard to reduce the high cost of living as well as provide jobs.
He said almost all the infrastructure projects his government commenced have been abandoned by Nana Addo and the NPP government.
