Refusal to Pay for Music Use is Unacceptable – Rex Omar

Veteran Highlife musician and Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), Rex Omar has disclosed that people who use music in the country do not understand why they should pay for the music.

 

According to him, refusal from co-operate institutions to pay for music used is acceptable. somethings he finds it hard to understand .

Speaking in an interview with Regina Van Helvert on Gh One TV, he made it known that GHAMRO is having trouble getting people to pay for the music they use.

 

The “Abiba” hitmaker explained, this phenomenon occurs because people do not understand why they should pay for the music.

“Unfortunately we live in a country where people who use music don’t understand why they should pay for it”

Explaining further, he stated that, the organization has taken all telecommunication companies in the country and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation to court for not paying to use music.

He added, “We are still doing a lot of work and restructuring at GHAMRO. We now have the best welfare policy.
