THE ASHANTI Regional Police Commander, DCOP Frank Abrokwa, has been transferred from the Region, raising suspicions that his transfer could be politically linked.
The police chieftain was, reportedly, hurriedly transferred from the Ashanti Region to the Police Headquarters in the national capital of Accra late in the night on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
The reason for his transfer from the Ashanti Region, where he has successfully managed the police to ensure law and order for years, was not immediately disclosed to the public, paving way for speculations and suspicions.
Earlier on, it was speculated that DCOP Abrokwa’s transfer was triggered by the chaotic scenes that marred the Council of State elections at the Ashanti Regional Coordination Council (RCC) on Tuesday.
However, other people in the Ashanti Region have also alleged that DCOP Abrokwa’s transfer was rather influenced by the change of government in the country barely one-month ago.
According to them, few hours after DCOP Abrokwa’s transfer on Tuesday, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, also reported to work in Kumasi on Wednesday as the new Ashanti regional commander.
Considering the swift manner at which the new commander reported to work, these people, including policemen, who don’t want to be named for obvious reasons, said DCOP Abrokwa’s transfer was already planned.
According to them, the signs were clear on the wall that DCOP Abrokwa was transferred from the region because of political reasons and nothing else.
