VEHICULAR TRAFFIC flow at Sepe Timpon, in the Asokore Mampong Municipality, was impeded last Friday morning, following a road blockage.
Angry residents of the hitherto-peaceful community, used huge logs and concrete blocks to block the busy road, thereby causing massive traffic in the area.
The people had blocked the road to register their anger against persistent flooding in the community, which is posing great threat to lives and properties.
According to reports, it had rained the previous day and most of the houses at Sepe Timpon got flooded in the process, leading to hardship for the people.
Even though no human lives were lost during the floods, most of the people lost valuable household items such as television sets and other expensive gadgets.
Some of the people that spoke to the media attributed the floods to a small culvert that was constructed in their community by the assembly just recently.
According to them, the culvert is so small that rain waters could not easily pass through it, a development that usually results in massive floods in the community.
They said the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly had earlier on promised to build the bridge to help lessen their burden, but it has rather worsened it.
The angry residents vowed not to remove the woods and concrete blocks from the road, until the assembly has assured that the culvert would be expanded.
Meanwhile, the paper learnt that it took the intervention of some armed security agents before the woods and concrete blocks were removed from the road.
