Resign! – Ras Mubarak to Ghana Beyond Aid Committee
National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Kumbungu Ras Mubarak has called on members of the Ghana Beyond Aid Committee to resign due to what he describes as “lack of capacity” on their part.
In a facebook post, the lawmaker was of the view that since the Ghana Beyond Aid Committee has accepted wrongly splashing Kenya’s skyline as cover page for the Ghana Beyond Aid Charter, “it is a testimony to the fact that the committee members lack the capacity to work in the high office of the land and therefore must resign”.
“I feel so embarrassed and government minions should spare us. You see a spirited defence of this very embarrassing spectacle. They are telling Ghanaians that we shouldn’t worry about the cover of the document; we should focus on the substance. But if you were to go inside the substance you will even realize that there are a bundle of contradictions.” he wrote.
According to him, the apology is too late and it is a reflection of mass incompetence of the committee and therefore all members must resign.
“Instead of apologizing to Ghanaians they should be tendering their resignation…we don’t expect this level of embarrassment to go unpunished.” he indicated.
The Kumbungu MP further described the flop as embarrassing to the nation.
Ras Mubarak reaction came after the Committee released a statement apologizing for the error on the cover page of its strategy document.
The Ghana Beyond Aid committee led by Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo in a statement on Friday said it had come to its attention that the cover photo of the document emanates from Kenya and thus “the Committee apologises unreservedly to the President and the nation for this error and takes full responsibility for it.”
“We are ensuring that the cover page of the document is replaced before bulk copies are printed for widespread circulation. We regret this error, once again,” the statement said.
