Respect Our Artistes’ Contract – Zylofon Warns
Record Label and artiste management company, Zylofon Media, has served notice that it would not take kindly to any person or organization that does commercial business with any of the artistes directly.
The company has issued a statement to remind the public it has a legally binding contract with all the artistes under its label and therefore it is criminal for anyone to book any of the artistes directly even if the performance is pro-bono.
The statement issues by Mr. Samuel Atuobu Baah, Head of Communications for Zylofon Media noted: Zylofon Media C. limited has the “sole right to use the artiste’s name, voice, likeness, sound and similar characteristics for the purpose of advertising, promotions, selling and otherwise merchandising discs, tapes, and other audio and video recordings produced from master products by the artiste”.
The statement mentioned the artistes in question to include, Bibi Bright, Becca, James Gardner, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Lydia Zynnel Zuh, Sima Brew, Obinini and Toosweet Annan.
“Any person desirous of employing any of the above named exceptional artistes must seek the express consent and concurrence of Zylofon Media Company Limited. Acting contrary to this shall be deemed as deliberate infringement on the right of our person, which we shall warrant a swift and strict enforcement in a court of law”, the statement added.
Not only has Zylofon signed on some of the country’s best musicians and film makers and pumping huge sums of money into their craft, but the company has actually provided the much-needed jobs for many heavy weights in the arts sector.
Aside the direct job creation from Zylofon, the company by the investment it has made in our creative arts has created thousands of indirect jobs and this is another reason the initiator, Nana Appiah Mensah, should be celebrated and encouraged.
