The government of Ghana must review the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy especially the boarding house aspect, Chief Executive Officer of Koans Estate, Kofi Anokye, has said.
According to him, the policy must be reviewed in order to find a place for parents who have the wherewithal to pay for their wards boarding fees to make some contributions in order to support the programme.
He however noted that the Free SHS programme is an important and bold policy the Akufo-Addo-led government has taken to educate Ghanaians.
The programme is the New Patriotic Party’s flagship policy aimed at educating all Ghanaians irrespective of their financial status.
But speaking on the Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM, Mr Anokye said: “I think the Free SHS programme is good but it must be reviewed.
“There are parents who can pay the fees no matter the cost, some of them took their children to expensive junior high schools and so they have no problem paying. The policy must be reviewed to make room for these parents to support.”
