River God ‘Destroys’ Road …MCE Begs Nananom To Help

The busy road was first constructed few months to the 2016 elections by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government but it destroyed in less than one-year.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration has also re-sealed the dangerous potholes on the road twice, since coming into office, only for the road to deteriorate in few months time.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong, Alhaji Alidu-Seidu, who made the disclosure on Nhyira fm, said at first they thought the contractors were doing shoddy work, hence the destructions.

According to him, but after a careful investigations, they have realised that the re-occurrence of the destruction of the road may have something to do with superstition rather than shoddy work.

“We realised that the chiefs of Asokore Mampong were not consulted by the various contractors before they brought their machines to the road to start working”, Alidu Seidu said on Nhyira fm.

According to him, the destructions usually started at a portion of the road where there is a bridge “and so we detected that perhaps the river gods were not consulted hence the destructions”.

Alhaji Alidu Seidu said his administration has recently appealed to the chiefs in the area to carry out the necessary rituals in the stream under the bridge to prevent the continuous destructions.

The Asokore Mampong MCE disclosed that the necessary pacifications had been done by the chiefs to the river god and “we hope that the continuous destruction of the road would end outright”.

According to him, another contractor is now busily working on the road, saying that “the small bridge had been destroyed and a bigger one is being built in its place to help prevent the road destructions”.
