A SPRINTER Bus driver has been killed in cold blood after he was shot at close range by some trigger-happy armed robbers.
The driver, who was only identified as Francis by eye witnesses, was killed on the main Nyinahin/Akorabuokrom road on the wee hours of Monday.
The highway robbers, numbering about five, who were all wearing mask, had reportedly blocked the road with cement blocks, and opened fire into the approaching bus at close range, sources said.
The driver reportedly died instantly while a passenger was critically injured. The sources said the robbers then made their way into the stationary bus and made away with an undisclosed amount of money and several mobile phones.
Meanwhile, the passenger that was hit by a bullet is said to be responding to treatment, while the driver’s body is currently at the morgue for autopsy.
