Robbers Kills COP …And Flee With His Rifle

A officer, whose name was given as Corporal Benjamin Antwi, has been shot dead by suspected robbers, who also made away with his AK46 assault rifle at Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti region.

Reports say Corporal Antwi was returning from work on Monday evening when he was attacked. So far, there are conflicting reports as to the exact place and time of the incident. No arrests have been made as at the time of filing this report.

The murder of the officer has once again sparked fear among residents of Kumasi and environs, as it comes at the heel of the murder in cold blood on Sunday of the Asamponghene, Oheneba Kwadwo Aforduor, in his car at Ejura.

Reports monitored by THE NEW PUBLISHER indicate that the Ashanti regional police command, though tight-lipped over the matter, is doing everything possible to arrest the killers of the corporal.

Security has been beefed up in parts of the region and several road blocks have been mounted.
