Rotten chicken packaged for sale in Kumasi

THE VIGILANCE of a Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Security Guard has saved the unsuspecting public from consuming an unwholesome chicken.

The ‘hero’ Security Guard, name unknown for now, was stationed at the Mbrom Lorry Park, which is one of the busiest lorry stations in Kumasi on Friday around 1pm.

The male security guard was said to have smelled a stench so he, reportedly, because curious and started to look around to detect what was causing the bad smell.

The security guard then saw one Abiba, who was in possession of quantities of big brown boxes, which were packed in the back seat of a tricycle also known as ‘Pragia’.

He then ordered the visibly-shaken Abiba to immediately open the big brown boxes and it was uncovered that some unwholesome chicken were being packed in them.

The KMA Environmental Health officials were also called to the scene to assess the chicken and they concluded that the meat was unwholesome and not fit for consumption.

Abiba then led the KMA officials to apprehend a man, who she claimed had provided the unwholesome chicken to her, at a cold store at Asafo Market for his immediate arrest.

Henrietta Aboagye, the KMA PRO, confirming the report, said the two suspects have been detained by the police, urging the public to be careful about what they consume.
