The Christian life is a race. But the beautiful thing about this race is that we are not competing against ourselves. We all have our tracks, we all have our assignments and all God demands of us is to be diligent and run the race to the end.
Unfortunately, we have imported the ‘rat race’ in the world into the Church. We see churches attempting to outdo one another; but beloved, longest time you live never forget this: You are here for a purpose and all God will ask you is, What have you done with the call upon your life?
If He has given you the gift to sing, He won’t ask you about ushering. If He has called you to wait on the people He brings to church, He won’t ask you about singing. You have your corner with the requisite skills to shine in that corner and all God is asking you is to “shine your shine”.
I see a lot of competition amongst believers today. We are not called to compete but to complement. While the Church is busy fighting herself, the world has caught the revelation and the buzz word in business now is collaboration.
That should be the buzz word in church and what does it mean to collaborate? It is about everyone bringing their ‘A-Game’ to the table.
Even if we are both called to sing and we both sing Alto, do you know that my strength and passion may be in worship, while yours may be in high praise? All we need to do is complement one another.
God is calling us to focus on our strength and let others complement us in our areas of weakness. Beloved, the sky is too wide for two birds to collide. There is so much to do, and the time is so short, so let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith.
