Sagnarigu Youth Attack Man They Accuse of Witchcraft

Some irate youth at Filling Point, a suburb of Choggu in the Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region Wednesday night burnt down the house and property belonging to a 60-year-old man, who they accused of witchcraft.

The irate youth set the house ablaze and attempted to lynch the man for allegedly casting evil spells over the community and destroying the fortunes of illustrious youth.

It took the timely intervention by the police to save the occupants of the house and ensure calm.

Two persons suspected to have been involved in the act were picked up by the police and are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

The son of the victim told the Graphic Online that the youth were holding dangerous weapons and attempted to lynch his father and anybody who tried to go to his rescue.

“In fact it was the police who saved our lives,” he said.
