SAM PYNE has been confirmed as Kumasi Mayor, despite initial fears that he will be rejected by members of the Assembly.
In a quick vote, the immediate-past Ashanti Regional Scribe of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), secured 55 out of 58 votes cast.
After winning 94.8 percent of the ‘Yes’ votes cast, the Electoral Commission (EC) declared Sam Pyne as the next Kumasi Mayor.
The wild shouts that greeted the declaration of Sam Pyne as the next Kumasi Mayor, nearly shook the foundation of the venue.
Interestingly, the polls, which was held on Tuesday, saw family members, loved ones and friends of Sam Pyne attending in numbers.
Sam Pyne, in his acceptance speech, indicated that he was ever prepared to work hard in order to help transform the city of Kumasi.
According to him, he has good plans to develop Kumasi, but he was quick to add that he could not do it alone, so he needed support.
Sam Pyne said he is ready to work with the assemblymen in an atmosphere of peace and unity so they should see him as a partner.
The newly-elected Chief Executive of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly also promised to cooperate with the chiefs in Kumasi to transform the city.
Sam Pyne used the occasion to thank the assemblymen and all others that helped in his nomination and eventual confirmation.
