Dancehall artiste, Samini born Emmanuel Andrews Sammini and rapper Michael Owusu Addo, known professionally as Sarkodie are the latest celebrities to throw their weight behind the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ahead of the 2020 polls.
In his new song titled ‘Happy Days’, in which he featured Kuami Eugene, Sarkodie indicated that President Akufo-Addo has implemented a number of good policies that are benefitting all Ghanaians.
These policies, he said, include the free Senior High school as well as the uninterrupted power supply to homes and industry.
“…when dumsor (a persistent, irregular, and unpredictable electric power outage) was a canker in Ghana, I voiced against it. Not to talk of the unprecedented inflation, which I, without fear nor favor, condemned the government for. So if today, my children would have free BASIC to SECONDARY education, and uninterrupted power supply, then I’m sorry, Nana (President Akufo-Addo) deserves a second…” he said in the song.
Similarly, Samini in a song titled ‘Kpoyaka’ indicated that, what Ghana needs in these challenging times is a leadership that has empathy and serves to create a hopeful future for the next generation.
To him, he will use his voice and his vote to support the worthy course of the Akufo-Addo led administration.
Making this known in a tweet, Samini said “These are challenging times for the world. My Voice, My Vote will support Leadership that has empathy and serves to create a hopeful future for the next generation.”
The two joins the likes of Afia Schwarzenegger, Agya Koo, Matilda Asare, Socrate Safo, Nicholas Omane Acheampong, Bibi Bright, Diana Asamoah and Jessica Williams who have voluntarily been campaigning for the President in different ways to win the 2020 presidential elections.

Member of Parliament(MP) for Ningo-Prampram Sam Nartey George hours after the endorsement alleged that the two were paid to endorse the candidature of President Akufo-Addo.
According to him, they were paid GHS 500,000 each and therefore people should not be swayed by their endorsement of the NPP.
He indicated that although there is love for their music and craft, their political choices cannot be trusted because they are induced with money.
Sam George said “Don’t be swayed by any funny endorsements people. We may love their music and groove to it but we don’t trust their political choices especially when they are worth GH500,000”.
Baba Sadiq who speaks for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Creative Arts and Tourism on the other hand has also described Sarkodie as ignorant.
In a tweet, Baba Sadiq described the line by Sarkodie in his endorsement song as ignorant because according to him, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo never solved “Dumsor”.
He said “It’s ignorance for anyone to suggest the Nana Addo led administration solved Dumsor. When and how did they solve Dumsor? Such ignorance can’t be allowed to fester. By all means take your endorsement fees, but dont hoodwink your fans into believing your ignorance”.
