Samira Storms K’si for NPP Office Complex
THE SECOND Lady, Samira Bawumia, is among top New Patriotic Party (NPP) members that are expected in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, on Thursday for an important party function.
The Ashanti Regional branch of the party, led by Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka ‘Wontumi’, would be cutting the sod for the construction of a regional party office complex.
The ultra-modern complex, whose drawings and building materials are ready, would be named after the late Bafffuor Osei Akoto, a former Chief Linguist of Asanteman.
Baffuor Osei Akoto, according to written and oral history, played pivotal roles that helped in the formation of the United Party (UP) that later metamorphosed into the NPP.
Interestingly, Baffuor Osei Akoto is also the father of the current Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, who is spearheading the government’s ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ programme.
Other party bigwigs such as Freddie Blay, Acting NPP National Chairman, Members of Parliament (MPs), Ministers of State, party delegates, supporters and sympathizers would also grace the historic event.
Chairman Wontumi is being supported by the popular Nzema Chief, Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo, in the construction of the multi-purpose regional party office.
