Samira: My sweetheart Bawumia focused on bold solutions

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the December 7 general elections has conducted an exemplary decent campaign with a focus on offering bold solutions for the prosperity of the country and a testament of gains made by the NPP government, which he intends to build on if elected as President, Second Lady Samira Bawumia has noted.

“Let us put the two leading gentlemen side by side and ask who has your best interest at heart. As I keep saying power does not change people. Power shows you who people are. We have seen the former President and we have seen Dr. Bawumia in action; the difference is clear. It is like night and day.

“Even look at the way the former President is campaigning and look at the way Dr. Bawumia is campaigning.  Look at the message he is putting forth and his campaign which is devoid of insults and devoid of personal attacks”, Samira noted in an address to students at the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region on Tuesday.

She continued: “Dr. Bawumia only speaks of his vision for Ghana and what he wants to do for this country; his campaign has been about what we have to do to get the next industrial revolution which is the Fourth Industrial Revolution. That is what Dr. Bawumia is talking about.  He is not attacking anybody and he is not insulting anybody, he is not denigrating people. We are not saying somebody is in a wheel chair because they are cursed. We are not doing that.

“We are prosecuting a campaign based on compassion, based on knowledge, based on a vision, based on bold solutions to move this country forward and that is what we need. Dr. Bawumia is saying that when he comes in, God willing and with your support, he is going to start by creating 1 million jobs in the digital economy.”

She said Dr. Bawumia would be building on the gains of the current government and intends to push the Fourth Industrial Revolution which will mean providing digital and software skills to hundreds of thousands of youth.

Samira said this along with other policies, will create jobs for the youth, including school dropouts. She added that in collaboration with the private sector, a Bawumia led government will train at least 1,000,000 youth in IT skills, including software developers to provide job opportunities worldwide.

She said the AKufo-Addo-Bawumia government was very clear in its mind from day one that it needed to invest in the human capital of this country because the surest way to develop this country is to educate its citizens.

“Now 7 to 8 years later, it is an interesting story. It is a story of increased enrollment; it is a story of opportunity for those who may otherwise not have had that opportunity. It is also a story of women’s empowerment; Free SHS inadvertently promoted women’s education because there are more women in school now than there have been ever been in our history.

“Free SHS also promoted equity; thanks to Free SHS, children from deprived backgrounds were able to attend first class school without any hindrance and that springboard for development”, the Second Lady added.

Here is a transcript of portions of Samira Bawumia’s address:

“Let us give ourselves a brighter future. Let us build on the gains that we have made already. Let us pick a leader who is knowledgeable, who is compassionate, who id dedicated, who is hard working , who would serve with integrity and honesty; let us pick Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia on the 7th of December. He would be there for you and he would serve you.

Bawumia says what he means and I dare say, he means what he says. Bawumia will not let you down. He is a leader we need for the moment. In every generation, there is that leader who changes the dynamics. Every generation has a leader who makes things different who catapults development and for us in Ghana, that leader is Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia; he is coming to do wonders for us.

“Let us not go back to what did not work, let us not go back to those who told us they were not magicians to give us jobs. Let us not go back to those who said they would cancel allowances even if they would lose their presidency. Let us not go back to people who do not have a vision for this country. Let us do right for ourselves ad for our future. Let us give Ghana a chance to prosper and most importantly give yourselves a chance to prosper.”
