Sammi Awuku Will Not Vote at NPP Congress
SAMMI AWUKU, the outgoing National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will not vote in the youth organizer race during tomorrow’s national delegates congress.
Even though, with his position, he had the right to vote, he said he would not cast his ballot on Saturday for strategic reasons.
He explained that he wanted to avert situations where he would be unjustifiably accused of rooting for one of the four youth organizer contestants.
“I will just not vote so that nobody can take advantage to accuse me of secretly rooting for any of the four candidates in the youth organizer race”.
Sammi Awuku said all the contestants are more than capable of effectively leading the party’s youth wing into the ‘Promised Land’, adding that he would rather pray for the best person to win.
He said he was not happy about the tension that had characterized the youth elections and admonished the contestants and their supporters to campaign decently without insults and name calling.
“I am not comfortable at all; I pray that the tension that has characterized the youth race would not create a deep enmity in the party after congress”, he said.
