SAMSON DEEN, has been elected as the new President of the Africa Paralympic Committee (APC) during polls, held in Rabat, Morocco.
Deen, who is the President of the National Paralympic Committee-Ghana (NPC), secured 24 of the total votes cast to emerge as the winner.
He was followed by Morocco’s Hamid El Aouni, who managed to accumulate 15 votes and therefore becoming Deen’s deputy at the APC.
With the historic victory, Deen would now replace Leonel da Rocha Pinto, who had been in office as the president of the APC for 13 years.
In total, 41 people from all over the African continent, made up of 38 in-person and 3 voting online, managed to cast their ballot last Sunday.
At the end of voting, Deen was declared the winner to fill the vacant APC presidential position, amid wild applause from the people present.
Significantly, Deen’s sweet victory did not surprise many as he was heavily tipped to win the polls, following his powerful campaign message.
Deen, widely known as a hard working and a visionary, has done yeoman job to develop, promote and give recognition to Paralympic in Ghana.
Meanwhile, Samson Deen and the Ghanaian delegation that accompanied him to Morocco for the polls on Sunday, would return home today.
According to credible reports, their flight would touch down at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra around noon time on Wednesday.
