The SANKALP West Africa Summit 2023 which seeks to empower young people on financial packages and other opportunities for smallholder businesses has seen the success spotlight.
The two-day summit which was held on the 12-13 June, 2023 at UPSA Auditorium in Accra Ghana pursued to engage with young entrepreneurs, and help them access necessary steps to invest in their businesses and also increase their knowledge of how to sustain and expand their businesses.
It provided the young entrepreneurs with a platform to engage with the experts on their fields, products and requirements needed to access financial support to expand their businesses.
The initiative was aimed at the reduction of unemployment among the youth, through necessary skills training and techniques to provide them with decent jobs and contribute to the improvement of the local economy as well as create an enabling environment for the West African Ecosystem to thrive.
Mrs. Arielle Molino, SANKALP Lead Africa AVP INTELLECAP speaking at a press conference yesterday, Tuesday, June 13, said there is need for the Africa continent to reduce unemployment, social vices, improve local economy in communities and provide youths with decent jobs.
“There is need for support and concern for the youths of the Africa continent to strive to success. There is need to build the ecosystem for the benefit of all sectors including young people with massive support for the entrepreneurs to build their ideas into reality. That’s why we are here to provide support, network and financial aspect for them” she said.
Flaubert Mbiekop, senior program specialist at the International Development Research Centre on his part said there is need for the private sector to thrive in aim of getting to the required success aspect of various entrepreneurs.
“IDRC focuses on the private sector most of the time because we believe that’s the way forward. When the private sector is developed, there is climax and success at the youthful sector. The private sector holds a lot of stakes in the development of these young entrepreneurs”.
The summit was in collaboration between CEO of Paradigm Communications in Nigeria, Mr. Raymond Nyayiti Enoch and The New Publisher Newspaper in Ghana.
Mr. Enoch explained that the media partnership engagement with INTELLECAP and partners who are the main organizers of the first SANKALP West Africa Summit was aimed at promoting mutually the two organizations work through various marketing channels, opportunities and networking.
The SANKALP West Africa Summit was convened in order to catalyze economic development, ensure effective partnership and collaborations to thrives in West Africa, had its theme as “Power of Partnerships”
It provided an opportunity for a unique entrepreneur-centric platform to drive sustainable development through business in West Africa.
Also, the Summit aimed to engender an Anglo-phone and francophone experiences through exploring common challenges, and generally providing better connections, opportunities for learning, and platforms for exchange across West Africa with the rest of the world.
