THE DWENTI Senior High School in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti region, would be shut down, soon as authorities of the school are reportedly not complying with the COVID-19 regulations, thereby putting the lives of their students in great danger.
Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Kumawu, has expressed concern that there is congestion in the school.
According to him, the students were being housed in congested dormitories, a situation that could lead to the spread of COVID-19.
Hon. Addai Agyekum disclosed that the Assembly initially cautioned the school authorities to do something about the congestion.
He said the Assembly’s caution and warning to the school have fallen on deaf ears as the situation has not improved.
The Sekyere Kumawu DCE, who was speaking on Nhyira fm, said the Assembly had secured a better place to move the students to now.
“By July 17, 2020, the Assembly would evacuate the students to a better place in order to stop the congestion and other challenges.
“These students, numbering about 127, are about to write their final examination so have to find means to accommodate them”.
He said after the examination the assembly would consider shutting down the school because authorities are not complying with COVID-19 protocols there.
“Aside the congested dormitories, the school also organized entertainment show recently, which could also lead to the spread of the virus”.
