67,382 have not been placed in the just released school placements list from the Ghana Education Service (GES) for the year 2018 academic year.
A statement released by the Ghana Education Service says out of the 521,710 candidates who registered for the Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE), 490,514 of them qualified to be placed automatically, while 67,382 could not be matched with the schools they selected.
However, candidates can access their placements by dialling an access code *713824#.
Speaking in an interview on Joy FM, Cassandra Twum Ampofo Head, Public Relations Unit at the Ghana Education Service assured candidates who have not been placed that there were a number of schools available for their selection.
Speaking on why they were not placed, she said,
“They were not placed because they did not get any of their choice of schools, they were asked to choose five schools and so per your grade you obtained, if your grade is A, B, C, or D, and you fall out from the first choice, you move to the next choice and so on, so per the grade you had, if you are not able to get any of the schools you choose, then you will be unplaced.
“We do not go to place schools they did not choose themselves, there are a number of the schools that have vacancies online, so they can choose from these schools, “Twum Ampofo assured.
