Aspiring NPP Presidential Candidate, Joe Ghartey has held a meeting with the staff of the staff of the UMAT – School of Railways and Infrastructure Development, Sekondi-Takoradi.
This meeting which was held on February 15th was Joe Ghartey’s first visit to the School since he ceased being Minister for Railways Development. This was during his Nationwide Tour of Hope and Unity.
In the interactions, the staff of the University showed their appreciation to the Presidential Candidate for his vision and efforts when he was Railways Development Minister, which saw the establishment of the school.
They said the establishment of the school has benefited both students and staff, as well as has affected the economy of the surrounding communities. They declared that they are solidly behind him and they said they believe that he is the best man for the job. They informed him that they have conferred on him the title ‘Papa of the University’.
Hon Ghartey thanked them for their wonderful reception stating that the vision was to build a school that would attract students from all over Africa. He said given the opportunity he would take education to the next level and make it a major foreign exchange earner.
Hon Ghartey said that the School was an example of hope of a vision which had been realised and was growing from strength to strength
