Second Lady To Attend ‘Global Women’s Business Empowerment’ Dinner In Philadelphia
Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Samira Bawumia is set to deliver a keynote address at a ‘Dinner dance Gala’ in celebration of women’s professional and business empowerment.
The information contained in a press release by the US-Ghana Chamber of Commerce revealed that the event will take place on Saturday, 10th March 2018. It will be her first official visit to the Philadelphia area since becoming Second lady.
The second will also have engagements with city officials to strengthen Ghana’s ties with the city of Philadelphia. Ghana and Philadelphia have a long history dating back to the days of Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, who was educated at Lincoln University and the University of Pennsylvania, both in Philadelphia.
The event was rescheduled from January to March to enable Samira Bawumia accompany her husband, the Vice President, Dr Muhamadu Bawumia to receive medical attention in the United Kingdom when he took ill few days prior to the Second Lady’s highly publicized visit to Philadelphia.
The second lady’s visit is facilitated by the US-Ghana Chamber of Commerce, an organization that promotes economic and cultural opportunities and advocacy between the United States and Ghana. It is headquartered in Philadelphia- USA.
