Sefa Kayi Calls For Action On Ebony’s Death

Ace Broadcaster, Kwami Sefa Kayi says the road contractor whose alleged negligence resulted in the death of dancehall artist, Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng, mostly known as Ebony, must not be spared.

He said the contractor ought to be brought to book if it is established that his leaving a heap of sand in the middle of the road indeed caused the fatal crash late Thursday.

Mr. Kayi, who is the current Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Journalist of the Year and host of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Morning Show insists it is about time contractors are made to answer for the deaths caused as a result of their carelessness.

Shocker

Ghana has been plunged into a state of mourning following the death of Ebony Reigns last Thursday.

Priscilla, a dancehall artiste known in the showbiz circles as Ebony Reigns and two others were killed on the Kumasi-Sunyani road in an accident.

The three who were heading to Kumasi in a black Jeep after visiting her (Ebony’s) mother in Sunyani collided with a VIP bus that was heading to Sunyani from Kumasi.

The heap, believed to be for the construction of the road had been left over a month ago at the Mankraso stretch of the Kumasi- Sunyani road, where the fatal accident occurred.

Ebony’s driver may have suddenly encountered a small bank of sand on the right side of the dark road at Mankranso and decided to dodge it.

His attempt to suddenly swerve the bump, brought the car into a direct collision with a VIP bus in the other lane.

But the Kokrokoo host speaking on Accra based Joy FM insists the contractor whose action killed the sensational songstress must not be handled with kid gloves.

He stated “If indeed the road was under construction and they left a heap of sand there…then somebody must be made to pay for it”

He described the late songstress as a “bubbly young woman who was full of life and lived life the way she wanted it”.

Meanwhile, Nana Poku Kwarteng, father of Ebony, has described his daughter as a gem who will be missed by Ghanaians.

In an interview following the tragic death of the 20-year old musician, Mr Kwarteng described Ebony as a “pretty queen” who “was so unique.”

“She was so special and that’s why I called her Ohemaa from day one. Ohemaa was amazing. Her title was her personality…If I should describe my girl, she was amazing, splendid.”

Mr Kwarteng added: “She was so unique and Ghana is going to have it tough to have [lose] someone like this pretty queen. She was a good writer. So loving and so caring. She was a gem.”

According to him “My girl was special and I will forever miss her,” he said, holding back tears.

Last Words

Mr. Kwarteng said he last spoke to Ebony on Wednesday.

“I spoke to her a day before yesterday (Wednesday) and she said she was going to see her mom. Her mom had returned from the UK and she needed to see her. I said okay and that was it.

“I asked her if she was driving cos I was scared [and] it was late… but she said she was with her driver, bodyguard and a friend. So I told her to take care of herself”.
