The Sefwi Bekwai Police has arrested Augustine Antwi Agyengo, 36, for parading himself as a policeman and extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public.
According to the police, they had been receiving a series of complaints against the suspect who has been presenting himself as a police officer, telling potential applicants to the service that he can help recruit them into the service.
Based on these false representations, he succeeded in obtaining a combined amount of GH¢17,000 from his victims Margaret Afful, David Mintah, Philip Essah and Kwadwo Appiah to have their children enlisted in the Service.
Agyengo after collecting the money went into hiding until one of the victims sighted him at Sankore and caused his arrest on the 5th of March.
