The woes of market women who trade on the street of Sege in Ada West District in the Greater Accra Region are expected to come to an end soon as the promised structure built is scheduled for completion soon, The New Publisher can confirm.
The project initiated by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Adzoteye Lawer Akrofi and the Ada West Assembly looks forward to solve issues of venue for the market women who have complained of inadequate space for a very long time.
Hon. Lawer Akrofi underscores the need for market women in the District to have an ultra-modern market which he says would accommodate about a thousand traders upon completion.
In addition, the DCE said the development when completed is expected to increase the revenue generation base for the Ada West District Assembly.
Some market women who spoke to the paper expressed satisfaction and happiness upon hearing the project is almost completed.
“We are happy the project is near completion. We’ve waited for this for long. Now women in the Ada West District can also boast of an ultra-modern market which will help in our business. We are happy and grateful to our good DCE Hon. Lawer Akrofi. He has exhibited good leadership skills since he assumed office and we are happy to have him. He is so caring for people especially women because he considers our development and progress. We pray and wish that President Akufo-Addo to maintains him for us. To us he is the best DCE for Ada West District since its creation in 2012. He has several developmental initiatives to the community people in good shape” one trader told our reporter.
Another also indicated, “We’ve been told we will soon move to the ultra-modern market. We are happy for the latest development communicated to us. We are hopeful it would serve the main purpose and agenda on why it was built. We have cried for such an edifice for long. We were ignored by previous governments but this administration and Hon. Lawer Akrofi have been of great. They came to our aid with the aim of building a market for us and we are grateful. My fellow market women have expressed joy and satisfaction upon the news and we hope for more of such edifice for women in the district.”
