Ghanaian super middleweight fighter Sena “The African Assassin” Agbeko is set to return to the ring with a bout against Argentine Bruno Leonardo Romay set for October.
The fight is set for October 14 in Sioux City, USA, nearly a year after Agbeko secured a remarkable victory against American boxer Isaiah Steen on October 21, 2022.
The 31-year-old boxer, Agbeko, with a record of 27 wins and two losses, will face Romay (22 wins and 11 losses) next month in his pursuit of another title opportunity in either the middleweight or super middleweight divisions.
Previously, he had been slated to fight highly-rated prospect David Morrell Jr. as part of the undercard for the Ryan Garcia-Gervonta Davis bout in April, but the match was canceled just days before the fight night.
Agbeko was in line to fight for the WBA Super middleweight belt but reported concerns over his medicals prompted the Nevada State Athletic Commission to decline a license for him to fight in Las Vegas.
Morrell ultimately defeated Yamaguchi Falcao, the 2012 Olympic bronze medalist.
