Deputy Minister for Health, Alexander Abban, has said that the beautiful COVID-19 female patient, believed to be in her 20s, who escaped from quarantine in Tamale, has been found and arrested in Accra.
““I’m just wondering how this person got to Accra because she was actually spotted and arrested. That is the shocking bit. How did she cross Kumasi? The person has been arrested. Yesterday when I was in Korle-Bu I chanced on that information,” Alexander Abban said on Citi FM’s The Big Issue on Saturday morning.
The information of the arrest of this COVID-19 quarantine escapee, believed to be a Guinean has sparked some controversy on how the lady managed to get to Accra all the way from Tamale at a time both the Ashanti and Greater Accra regions are closed to entry by persons, except cargo.
Another issue of grave concern is which people this quarantine escapee may have met, interacted with and possible infected with the deadly virus.
He face and identity remain hidden from the public for fear that she may get lynched by a mob so it difficult to tell who exactly she may be.
The only information on her so far is that she is a female believed to be a Guinean national, she is in her 20s and has an attractive beauty that cannot pass unnoticed by any right thinking male adult.
Her escape from quarantine was confirmed by the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed who disclosed that the said the patient was being quarantined with other confirmed patients at a facility in Tamale but she woke up at midnight and “scaled the wall [ of the facility]” leaving behind her belongings.
Meanwhile there were two police and two soldiers on a 24-hour guard at the facility where the escaped lady and other infected persons were being quarantined.
Salifu Saeed described the development as “a very disturbing situation because she is positive” with the novel coronavirus.
“…I have not slept, with my security people. I directed that they should use all their networks to be able to track the person down and get her,” Mr. Saeed told the media.
While some say the lady was seen and grabbed at Jamestown in Accra, others say she was rather found in Ashaiman. None of these two places has been confirmed as where exactly she was found and arrested.
