Shatta Movement Records, the management team behind Shatta Wale, has issued an apology to the Ghana Society of Physically Disabled (GSPD) for remarks made by their artist about Stonebwoy.
In a statement addressing the controversy, the Empire clarified that Wale’s comments were not intended to harm or offend the disabled community.
Shatta Movement Empire acknowledged that the artist’s statement “may have been misinterpreted,” clarifying that there was no intention to mock or demean individuals with disabilities.
According to the Empire, Wale’s remarks aimed to highlight the significance of Stonebwoy conducting himself appropriately and showing respect to others consistently.
“We understand that the wording of the statement may have been insensitive and we acknowledge the concerns raised…we value and respect the contributions and rights of individuals with disabilities in our society,” the statement read.
The Empire assured of its dedication to promoting “inclusivity and understanding” and pledged to be more mindful of its words and actions in the future.
It’s noteworthy that Shatta Wale made some remarks mocking Stonebwoy for boycotting the Abeka Salahfest.
In a viral video, Wale said “Stonebwoy, a disabled man you want to fight me a strong man, I will kick you.”
The GSPD then demanded an apology from the artiste and asked him to retract his statement.
GSPD noted that such a “primitive statement should not have come from a high-profile personality like Shata Wale.”
After the society gave Shatta Wale a week to apologize, he didn’t. Instead, he asked why they wanted him to and said he’s a troublemaker himself.
Wale also criticized the society’s demand by mentioning other unusual associations people form, like one for unemployed folks.
“You can’t create a problem for me, I am a problem myself,” “Everything we are creating an association and paying dues, there is even Unemployed people association,” the outspoken musician stated.
