Shatta Wale Fans Storm UTV At Midnight
Between Saturday late night and early dawn of Sunday morning, security personal stationed at the Despite Media premises that houses UTV, Peace FM, Okay FM and Neat FM became helpless, hapless and had to call for reinforcement when thousands of persons from all walks of life gathered at the entrance and car park of the building just so they could catch a glimpse of dancehall superstar, Shatta Wale who was in the studios of UTV for a live interview.
Shatta appeared on ‘United Showbiz’ a creative arts talk show hosted by actress Nana Ama McBrown on Saturdays from 9PM to 11PM but this weekend’s edition actually ended Sunday morning because the guest, has a whole library of juicy revelations to make on the show and the producers had no choice but to extend the live programme.
While Shatta was on set, some of his fans were not fully satisfied by watching the ‘United Showbiz’ program from the comfort of their homes and therefore had to rush to the premises of the TV station just to see their super star whenever the programme would end.
By Sunday morning when Shatta Wale finally came out of the UTV studios, the sight of him heading in the direction of the fans switched their mood from normal to an ecstatic frenzy which got them chanting very loudly in unison: “Wale Eiiii, Wale Eii Eiii Eii, Eiii, Wale Eiiii, Wale Eii Eii Eii Eii, Wele Eii Eii Eiii, Ye Mama Ye Mama, Ye Mama, Ye Mama, Wele Eii Eii Eiii, Ye Mama Ye Mama, Ye Mama, Ye Mama.”
The midnight crowd, that had stormed Despite Media purposely to celebrate Shatta Wale danced, clapped, yelled and finally broke into a free for all jamboree, when he finally when he got to them to respond to their cheers and made the symbolic ‘SM’ symbol with his fingers while his hands were crossed.
The crowd was now growing larger than what could be contained and their chants became “Wale, Wale”, while others yelled very loudly ‘Paah, Paah, Paah, Paah” “Champion”, “One Don”, as if they wanted to deliberately damage their vocal cords by over shouting.
Earlier, Shatta Wale had said during the interview that his brand cuts across both the corporate and street worlds.
“My brand is a corporate brand, I have streets around me but I still deal with the corporate world. I do the kenkey seller who wants me to come and buy kenkey from her. I do advertise for such streets people like that, I have a deal with Kasapreko which is a corporate body where I do X,Y,Z to also promote them. My brand appeals to the street and the corporate” Wale said.
Also on the same show, ‘United Showbiz’ as co guests were Artiste Manager, Nana Asiamah Hanson aka Bulldog, Broadcast Journalist Abeiku Santana and Journalist cum Creative Arts Pundit, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo.
Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, on Sunday morning, took to his Facebook wall to share his experience on the incident: “THERE ARE STARS, SUPERSTARS & gODS!
Brethren, in all honesty, truth is just one – say it and sleep better.
This dawn, I struggled to get out of UTV premises after the show. I had to dawdle and perch somewhere, because the premise was inundated with fans of Shatta Wale. After 12am?
The fervour, enchantment, alacrity and resolve of these fans to converge, chant and mob their artiste was a sight to behold.
Forget his quirkiness and all, Shatta Wale truly embodies what stardom is all about.
Only gods are worshipped like how he is worshipped by these loyal fans and this dawn, I saw one!
#celebrate #truth”
