Shatta Wale pledges GHC20k to support fan with special needs

Dancehall musician Shatta Wale has made a significant commitment to support a fan with special needs by pledging GHC200,000.

This generous gesture follows an emotional interview on TV3’s The Day Show with Berla Mundi, which featured Samuel Akonnor, a level 300 student at the University of Education, Winneba.

Samuel, who suffers from cervical dystonia, shared his longstanding dream of meeting Shatta Wale, whom he considers a personal hero. During the interview, which aired on Sunday, September 8, Samuel expressed his admiration for the artist and joyfully jammed to his favorite Shatta Wale song, ‘Ayoo.’

In addition to sharing his dream, Samuel revealed a special gift he has prepared for Shatta Wale, expressing his eagerness to present it to the artist when they finally meet. The heartfelt moment captured in the interview moved Berla Mundi to make a passionate appeal to Shatta Wale to grant Samuel’s wish. This appeal, coupled with a viral video of the interview, caught the attention of the Dancehall star.

Responding to the video, Shatta Wale took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to announce his plan to meet Samuel and to express his support.

“Bella Mundi because of this humble boy, I am coming for an interview and also supporting him with 20k GHC. Let’s do this interview ASAP,” Shatta Wale tweeted.

This tweet confirmed his pledge to contribute GHC200,000 towards Samuel’s medical treatment, demonstrating his commitment to helping his fan.

Shatta Wale’s response not only promises to fulfill Samuel’s dream of meeting him but also provides significant financial support for his medical needs. The Dancehall star’s swift and generous actions highlight his dedication to his fans and his willingness to make a meaningful impact on their lives.
