SHS Girl Aborts Pregnancy with Pesticide
A FEMALE student of the Adobewura Senior High School (SHS) in the Atwima Mponua District in the Ashanti region is reported dead.
Unconfirmed reports say the late form one student (name withheld), in an attempt to abort a pregnancy, allegedly gulped a substance, which looked like pesticide, leading to her premature death.
The body of the student has since been deposited at the morgue, pending autopsy to show the cause of death.
A teenage boy, also said to be a first-year student, who allegedly put the young girl in a family way, has reportedly been nabbed to assist in investigations.
The teenage girl reportedly became unconscious soon after consuming the suspected pesticide and was hospitalized at the Ntoboroso Clinic for three days until her situation got out of hand. She was subsequently referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where she died.
The Headmaster of Adobewura SHS, Mr. Addai, who sounded very sad, confirmed that a female form one student had indeed perished.
He, however, could not tell the actual cause of death, saying “the doctors can prove that after autopsy”.
The Assemblyman for Adobewura Electoral Area, Hon. Anane Frimpong, also confirmed the mysterious death of the teenage student.
Like the headmaster, the assemblyman also called on the public to wait for the autopsy reports, more so when there are different speculations in town regarding what caused her death.
