The next New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Congress may not be close, but it appears some people are already lacing their boots towards that day.
Unconfirmed information reaching THE NEW PUBLISHER says the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Forestry Commission, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, aka ‘Sir John’, is nursing the ambition to become the next national chairman of the party.
The position is currently being occupied by veteran politician, Freddie Blay, who against all odds, led the party to wrest power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016.
Sir John was once the party’s General Secretary, but his administration failed to win the general election in 2012.
The Forestry Commission CEO’s reported decision to return to active politics has come as a big surprise to many political watchers, especially as he seems to be chalking a lot of success at his current office.
The paper has sighted several nicely designed posters of Sir John in Kumasi, and also on social media.
Even though he has not officially communicated his intension, the responses from his supporters give some credence to the reports.
