MILITARY PERSONNEL have been admonished to continue to abide by health protocols in order for them to stay safe from COVID-19.
The GOC Central Command, Brigadier General, Joseph Aphour, who gave the advice to soldiers, stated that COVID-19 has not been defeated yet.
According to him, the virus, which has so far claimed scores of human lives across the globe, including Ghana, still remains very dangerous.
In this regard, Brigadier General Aphour entreated military personnel to always wear face masks, maintain social distancing and observe other protocols.
The military chieftain, who wields a lot of authority and respect, especially in the military, stated that the deadly virus doesn’t discriminate.
According to him, any mistake could result in a person being infected by the virus and transmitting it to others in the barracks. He therefore reiterated the call on soldiers to be vigilant.
He was speaking when Zoomlion Ghana partnered the Ministry of Defense to disinfect and fumigate military bases in the Ashanti region last week.
The important exercise, was among other things, intended to get rid of possible viruses so as to help protect military personnel and their relatives.
Brigadier General Aphour, who was speaking during the launching of the programme at the 4 Infantry Battalion, expressed joy about the exercise.
Philip Yeboah Asante, who represented Zoomlion Ghana, a waste management firm, said his outfit would use about one-week to complete the exercise.
