Solve Ghana’s Problem With Education – Asiedu Nketia Tells Akufo-Addo

The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the government to solve the educational challenges confronting the nation instead of crucifying a National Organizer aspirant of the NDC, Joshua Akamba, for allegedly inciting some students against President Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia said “if you [government] attack Akamaba or crucify him, it will change anything but rather find a solution to the problems he spoke about”.

Mr Akamaba was heard telling students of Tempane Senior High School in the Upper East Region that President Akufo-Addo and the government must be blamed for bed bug attacks in their school.

He made the students show their bed bug bite scars to the cameras, promising them their headache will be over by 2020 if they vote out the NPP.

Akamba was also seen encouraging the students to reject President Akufo-Addo as he is the cause of their predicament.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has therefore suspended the headmaster of the Tempane SHS, Dominic Ndegu Amolale, pending further investigations.

Speaking on the issue on Okay FM on Monday, the NDC General Secretary said Mr. Akamba’s presence at the school was only a confirmation of the suffering of the students in the school and not to incite them as it has been purported.

He said President Akufo-Addo and his men should concentrate on the issues confronting the students and not attack Akamba for campaigning in the school.

General Mosquito as he commonly referred to indicated that there were similar instances of what happened at Tempani SHS involving some leading members of the NPP, then in opposition during the John Mahama-led administration, yet they never saw this harsh suspension and attack on Akamba.

General Mosquito also stated that the lack of Presidential candour demonstrated by the President does little to instill the public confidence in his utterances and by shirking responsibility for his government’s obviously poor performance in the area of fighting challenges in the education system and many other related matters.

“If you attack Akamaba or crucify him, it won’t change anything. I watched the video and didn’t really see anything as inciting as they claim. Akamba only went there to campaign. I think it’s just unnecessary intimidation”, he said.
