The head of the supporters’ group of Karela Football Club, Emmanuel Kwoffie, has apologised for the violence that ensued after their MTN FA CUP game with Medeama SC at the CAM Park at Anyinase.
Speaking on Nhyira FM’s Power Sports Programme in Kumasi, Mr Kwoffie told host PJ Mozee that Karela fans caused the mayhem both within and outside the CAM Park.
He however deemed it necessary as head of the supporters’ group to apologise for the act.
“When we went to play Medeama at Tarkwa, they assaulted our players by pouring urine on their jerseys. So Moses Parker also gave the order that no Karela fan should be allowed into the Akoon Park for the game,” he said.
“After that, the leadership of Medeama came to Anyinase to apologise for their unruly behaviour, and in the presence of the Chief of Anyinase, both parties, including we the supporters, smoked the peace pipe and gave assurance we will not retaliate”.
Emmanuel Kwoffie said he was shocked that fans of Karela would throw foreign objects onto the pitch and attack the players of Medeama.
“At a point, I as supporters’ chief was on my knees pleading with my people to stop, but they refused,” he stated. “I am at the Police station currently to report the fans who did that, and after I show the Police all of them because I know them, and they can never deny they weren’t part of that barbaric act”.
Emmanuel Kwoffie has asked for forgiveness from the Chief of Anyinase for disobeying him and acting contrary to the peace accord.
