Sports Minister commissions Otumfuo Park

THE MINISTER of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Usif, officially commissioned the Otumfuo Park at Dichemso in the Manhyia South Constituency on Sunday morning.

The ultra-modern astro turf park, a brainchild of the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh alias ‘Napo’, was constructed through the support of Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

The beautiful park boasts of amenities such as FIFA sized football pitch, floodlights, sitting stands, dressing rooms. It was built by Wembley Sports Construction Company Ltd.

The colourful event was graced by traditional leaders, members of parliament, New Patriotic party (NPP) bigwigs from national, regional and constituency and people from all walks of life.

Mustapha Usif, in his address, praised Napo for his vision and determination to promote sports in his constituency through the construction of modern sporting facilities.

With the opening of the Otumfuo Park, he said, scouts would be trooping to Manhyia South to pick footballs talents, who would be trained to become future stars.

Napo, who doubles as the Energy Minister, in his address, said Manhyia South now boasts of three modern astro parks, adding that the fourth park is under construction.

He admonished residents of Dichemso and Manhyia South in general, to take good care of the Otumfuo Park for its longevity for future generations to also benefit from it.

The MP for Yendi, Hon. Farouk Aliu Mahama, on his part, commended Napo for his hard work for mother Ghana and urged him to sustain his good works for the country.

Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori-Atta, the Manhyia South, who is also the Chairman of the committee to manage the park, assured that the Otumfuo Park would be properly managed.
