The Human Resource Directorate of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) has organized a two-day training on the topic, “Practical Steps to Reposition a Company’s Corporate Culture Effectively” at the Ministry’s conference room.
The event happened on the 12th and 13th of December, 2023.
Engaging the participants, the Facilitator from Kenbridge Center of Excellence, Mr. Ken Oduro, mentioned that cultural change would continue to be the process and not an instant change.
He explained that in this process, leaders should make their subordinates aware of this change as well as their willingness of the change to avoid any resistance.
Mr. Oduro grouped the change into three forms namely: Unfreezing, Moving, and Refreezing
Giving reference to the keys to unfreeze the change. He said,
- Identify specific behaviors that need to change.
- Develop a compelling message for the change to create a sense of urgency.
- Garner (leadership) management support
- Create a guiding coalition of change champions
- Involve all employees in planning the change in order to win them.
Keys to move the change EFFECTIVELY:
- Communicate the change initiative with timelines.
- Monitor the change and try to identify and manage resistors of the change.
- Reward individuals who are exceptionally compliant to the change.
- Periodically evaluate the change to assess progress and effect corrections where and when necessary.
In the closing remarks, Director of Human Resource Management of the Ministry, Austin Hesse, encouraged all Directors to put into practice what they have learnt and suggested that the programme be extended to all Agency Heads in the coming years.
