‘Step Down for Blay’…Wontumi Tells Ntim
Latest developments within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) strongly suggests that barely two weeks to the party’s congress in Koforidua to elect national executives, an intense pressure is being mounted on Mr. Stephen Ayensu Ntim to drop his National Chairmanship ambition, for his only rival, Mr. Freddie Blay.
No mean a personality than Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi’, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, is leading the ‘Ntim must quit’ crusade, claiming the ghosts of the party’s ancestors tasked him in a dream to champion the obviously destructive cause.
According to him, Blay, the party’s current acting national chairman, should be allowed to go solo because, the party’s forefathers are rooting for him to lead the party ahead of the 2020 general elections.
“Heroes of the party like Busia, Danquah and Dombo are all behind Blay because they see him as the best person to lead us to victory once again.
“Busia, Dombo and Danquah appeared in my dream recently and they tasked me to talk to Ntim to step down for Blay to go as our national chairman.
“In the dream, they told me that we should not change a winning team therefore we should maintain Blay because he is the right person”, he said.
Speaking on radio in Kumasi recently, Wontumi saluted Alhaji Short for having the interest of the NPP at heart “by stepping down from the race”.
According to him, it would benefit the NPP if Ntim followed Alhaji Short’s example by also stepping down for Blay to go unopposed.
What is, however, not clear in the matter is why is the so-called ancestors failed to directly reveal themselves to Ntim, but rather chose to pass on such a vital message through ‘Wontumi’.
